SHOROJAN OR MOREL MUSHROOS OF GILGIT BALTISTAN

        It looks like these are morel mushrooms , which are indeed prized edible fungi found in many mountainous regions around the world, including parts of Gilgit Baltistan. In the Shina language, they’re referred to as “shorojan.” Here are a few more details you might find interesting: Morels have a distinctive honeycomb-like cap with deep pits and ridges. They range in color from light tan to dark brown or grayish, depending on the species and where they grow. Morels often appear in the spring, especially in forested or damp, mossy areas. In  Gilgit-Baltistan people collect them in the mountainous regions when the weather warms up. Morels are highly sought after for their earthy, nutty flavor. Many people dry them for later use, since fresh morels are seasonal. The local name “shorojan” in Shina reflects how embedded these mushrooms are in local culture and cuisine. It helps us in so many diseases.....

               Khunjerab Top is the highest paved international border crossing in the world, located at an altitude of 4,693 meters (15,397 feet) above sea level. It connects  Gilgit-Baltistan with China (Xinjiang region) through the Karakoram Highway.      It serves as the main crossing point between Gilgit Baltistan and China. It is a key route for trade under the  (CPEC). Tourists visit Khunjerab Pass for its breathtaking scenery, snow-covered peaks, and high-altitude adventure. The Khunjerab National Park, home to snow leopards and ibex, is nearby. The pass remains closed from November to April due to heavy snowfall. Even in summer, temperatures can be very low, with strong winds. The Gilgit Baltistan-China border checkpoint is located here, monitored by customs and immigration authorities.  K2 and Nanga Parbat are two of the most renowned peaks in the world, both located in Gilgit baltistan. K2 K2, standing at 8,611 meters (28,251 feet), is the second-highest mountain globally, surpassed only by Mount Everest. Situated in the Baltistan region of Gilgit-Baltistan, K2 is part of the Karakoram Range. Its nickname, "Savage Mountain," reflects its extreme difficulty and high fatality rate among climbers. Unlike Everest, K2 has no commercial climbing routes, making it a more isolated and challenging ascent. Nanga Parbat Nanga Parbat, at 8,126 meters (26,660 feet), is the ninth-highest mountain in the world. Located in the Diamer District of Gilgit-Baltistan, it marks the western anchor of the Himalayan Range. The name "Nanga Parbat" translates to "Naked Mountain" in Urdu, while its local name,  means "King of the Mountains." The peak is notoriously known as the "Killer Mountain" due to its high number of climber fatalities,

Traditional cap (Pakol or Khoi)  A red embroidered cap, commonly worn in the region.                     Handmade accessories – He carries a wooden staff and bags made of natural materials, indicating a nomadic or pastoral lifestyle.                 The attire reflects the cultural heritage of the indigenous people of Gilgit-Baltistan, where traditional clothing is designed for warmth and durability in the harsh, high-altitude environment.
