It connects  Gilgit-Baltistan with China (Xinjiang region) through the Karakoram Highway.      It serves as the main crossing point between Gilgit Baltistan and China. It is a key route for trade under the  (CPEC). Tourists visit Khunjerab Pass for its breathtaking scenery, snow-covered peaks, and high-altitude adventure.
